Ancient cultures recognized that sex is one of the great creative forces which can only be truly appreciated by exploring its full potential. Tantra like yoga or Zen is a path to enlightenment which heightens and extends the special bond which exist between lovers during love making. Intercourse in Tantric sex has incredible spiritual meaning. An orgasm is seen a cosmic or divine experience. The Tantric teachers believe that sex should not just be a physical sensation but should be considered a deeply spiritual experience. In Tantra there is no specific physical goal in love making. There is just the experience of giving love and receiving love back.
In Indian Culture 1500 years ago, the Tantric Sect taught that the world was created by the energy of sexual union. The ecstasy couples experience during sexual union brings them closer to the Divine. All of these beliefs were written down in the Kama Sutra. People who are unfamiliar with the Kama Sutra have thought of it as nothing more than a visual guide of exotic sexual positions. However, further research has lead lovers to discover the spiritual and energizing benefits of its lessons.
Modern studies have show that sex is one of the best ways to relieve stress and tension. Stress reduction produces happier and more fulfilling relationships.
Unlike Western culture, where sex is exclusive designed for male satisfaction or procreation, Tantric sex places equal value on both the male and female. In fact, sex only works when both are at equal stages and level of enjoyment. Both partners are dedicated each other finding complete fulfillment and sexual ecstasy. The emphasis in Tantric sex is placed on much more than the physical pleasure one gets from the his/her genitals.
In Tantra, lovers learn to resist the urge to orgasm. By prolonging the ecstasy, Tantric lovers can carry the energy from the genitals and pelvic region, up their spine through their entire body and into the brain. Taking longer to build arousal makes you more sensitive to the subtle nerve currents that control orgasmic reflexes. Resisting orgasm can reward you with intense new levels of pleasure.
Exercise 1: Locate Chakras
Chakras are seven distinctive points of the body where sexual energy flows. They are located at the genitals, just below the navel, the solar plexus, the heart, the neck/throat, between the eyebrows, and the crown of the head.
Exercise 2: Discover energy flows
Sit together naked without any genital stimulation. Sit an hold your lover, caress, look into each other eyes and relax. Being together quietly can be an exciting prelude to sex. Gentle kisses are also recommended. These tender moments will strengthen the bond with your partner and deepen love making.
Exercise 3: Breathing
Breathing control is essential to tantric love making. Deep breathing can develop your lungs and provide more energy during love making because more oxygen allows the body to perform more efficiently. Breath in deeply through your nose then exhale fully through your mouth. Facing your partner practice deep breathing individual, then slowly get in sync with your partner.
The Big O
Like a marathon runner that uses breath to increase stamina, distance and speed in a race, lovers may use similar techniques to increase sexual energy and depth of orgasms. This energy which spreads through all parts of the body can produce what’s known as full body orgasms. The general sensations in a full body orgasm include warmth, tingling, vibrating, or pulsating throughout the body. Some men and women experience waves of orgasms which makes it difficult to know when one orgasm ends and another begins. Some claim to feel a oneness with the universe.
*Much more can be learned about Tantra including the techniques for sensual massaging, positions for optimal stimulation, and techniques for long lasting love making. If anyone has studied Tantra feel free to comment. Similarly if anyone has questions feel free to ask.*
Always wanted to know more about Tantra. Broached the subject with a guy I was dating awhile ago and he dismissed it categorically. Maybe if he was willing to learn more about it, we’d still be together.
Thanks, interesting read.
So this article hit me in different way. Its something I have always wanted to try but not having too much luck with finding the right “one”. I see it as a deep meaningful special connection to share with a person. Maybe its the secret to longevity in a relationship?
Here’s another indication that the West can learn so much from “the cradle of civilization,” the East.
Tantra places equal importance on both female and male pleasure, which is necessary to have the most enjoyable experience. I’m sure sistas feel me lol.
It also relieves stress, reduces anxiety and taps into one’s spirituality…becoming One with the Oneness.
I wonder if one must be in love in order to experience Tantra? It has been my experience that my most pleasurable moments have been when I was in love. Being that I currently am not in a relationship, I would still like to take part in the Tantra experience.
wow, i know i’m late but that sounds nice.
I am at a point in my life when I need not only Tantra but also Yoga–and a revived hard drive. You understand?
